Living Yoga: Yoga for Two
(Gaiam)
1999
What is it?
A 20-minute Yoga workout for two people to do together. Who is it for? Couples, or good friends, who want to share their experience of Yoga together - they should both know the basic Hatha Yoga postures. What to expect: Rodney Yee is already famous for his expert Yoga instruction; here he brings along his wife, Donna Fone, to show how two people can enhance their Yoga practice by performing the Asanas together. Poses can be mirrored, used to compliment each other (a partner's Child's Pose can assist a backbend, for example), or one person can help the other stretch farther into a pose. Although the postures are basic, Yee assumes that the viewers are already familiar with them, so a complete novice may be a bit confused. Two mats are also necessary for this workout - it's not really possible to do many of these Asanas correctly using just one. Since this tape is only 30 minutes long, and the workout is a mere 20 minutes, this is really just a taste of the infinite possibilities of couples' Yoga. This is a great introduction, however, to the intimacy and fun of doing Yoga with a close friend or significant other - you can deepen your relationship while deepening your poses!
