Yoga Zone: Flexibility and Tone
(BMG Video)
1997
What is it?
A beginner's Yoga video which focuses on flexibility and offers some strength moves Who is it for? Beginners, preferably with a bit of prior Yoga practice. What to expect: Here's another 55-minute beginner's video featuring the expert instruction of Alan Finger, head of Yoga Zone. While this tape covers much of the same terrain as his Introduction to Yoga - Cat, Down Dog and a number of other poses are the same - he also adds some variations and some more challenging postures. For example, he builds on the basic Sun Breath vinyasa from Introduction to Yoga, and takes the practitioner through Proud Warrior and Scale Pose (also known as Boat). Two of Finger's master instructors illustrate the poses and, as always, there's an easier and a more difficult version. Either way, these poses will build strength, flexibility and release a good amount of pent-up tension. The tape opens by focusing on the breath and closes with a very pleasant Corpse Pose, or Shavasana. While neither this nor any other Yoga video is a replacement for an in-person teacher, the instruction this tape offers is high quality. Finger knows how to explain each pose in a way that's non-intimidating and extremely easy to understand. This is an excellent tape for beginners who want just a bit more challenge.
