The Method: Dynamic Cardio
(Parade Video)
1999
What is it?
Three brief, dancey aerobic workouts, each one more challenging than the last. Who is it for? Anyone who loves to dance and has a flair for it. The choreography is too complex for more athletic types, and the pace probably not intense enough for very experienced exercisers. What to expect: Aerobics videos tend to fall into two categories - those with simple moves that get your heart rate soaring, and those with complex choreography that aren't quite as intense. This tape falls into the latter category, so if you prefer dancing to working up a heavy sweat, you'll find this video a lot of fun. Instructor Lisa Wheeler shows her dance background by her ballet and jazz-based terminology (if you don't know what second position or an arabesque is, you'll just have to watch and learn), and she goes through the choreography very quickly - even people with a dance background will probably have to rewind once or twice to get the moves down. The three segments run an average of 15 minutes (done all together they're 45 minutes long, not counting the four-minute warm-up and six-minute cool down). Depending on your fitness level, you can do one, two or all three segments. Part of the enjoyment of this video is mastering the moves - you really feel like you've accomplished something when you learn how to do it. And once you have it down you can really fly through it and get a decent workout, especially if you're new to aerobic exercise. Those who never cared much for dance or who are not terribly coordinated should not even bother with Dynamic Cardio - it will only leave them frustrated. But if, at some point in your life, you lived to dance, then this video is definitely worth checking out. To Order The Method: Dynamic Cardio on Video
