Crunch Free Abs
(Natural Journeys)
2001-2003
What is it?
A 45-minute, crunch-free workout that focuses on the core, especially the abs. Who is it for? All levels of exercisers - while your abs will be challenged, this workout can be done by almost anybody. You'll need an exercise mat and a chair for one move. It also helps (and is more fun) if you do this workout with a partner. What to expect: Scott Cole and Tom Seabourne are true to the title of this video - there is not one crunch to be found anywhere in this unique workout. What you will find are moves from martial arts, flexibility training, cardio and Yoga. This approach challenges the abs in many different ways - actively and isometrically, targeting the obliques, rectus and transverse ab muscles. There are also exercises for the lower back, so the whole area around your midsection is worked. Often it seems like you are moving everything but your abdominals, yet they're still the focus of the workout because it's the abs that are keeping the moves controlled. Cole also leads you through a short, fat-burning cardio segment so that the six-pack you are developing actually shows. A couple of the floor exercises are best done with a partner (although they can be done alone), so you may want to do this video with a friend. Since Cole and Seabourne make the workout fun, it's nice to share it with someone else - and you'll both reap its benefits. You may also be interested in checking out these ab workouts on DVD:
