10 Minute Solution: Yoga
(Anchor Bay Ent.)
2005

10 minute solution yoga lara hudson What is it?
Five 10-minute Yoga routines that can be mixed and matched or, for the time challenged, done separately. Lara Hudson instructs.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning to intermediate Yoga enthusiasts. You will need a mat. No props are shown, but you may want a yoga strap for one of the poses in the final segment.
What to expect:
Are you so busy that it seems like you never have an hour or so to fit a real Yoga session into your day? And is your Yoga practice suffering as a result? Well, 10 Minute Solution: Yoga may not solve your scheduling problems, but it will enable you to squeeze some Yoga into a slim pocket of time. Lara Hudson makes sure that each 10-minute session offers a targeted, quick-but-quality Yoga routine, and they are arranged so that they can be combined — if you have 50 minutes, you can do all segments, or if you've only got just 20 minutes or half an hour you can choose two or three. You can even choose to do just 10 minutes. Each segment has a different focus — the first is a basic breathing and Sun Salutation segment; number two zeros in on the lower body with standing poses; the third segment is a challenging ab routine that includes some Pilates-style moves and number four is called "Yoga Burn" — it's a fast paced, Vinyasa style segment. Finally, you get 10 minutes of "flexibility and relaxation," which includes a number of twisting poses.

Although Hudson offers clear, concise instructions, this DVD really isn't for total beginners. You should already be familiar with most basic Yoga poses and Sun Salutations before practicing these workouts. In addition, during the "Flexibility and Relaxation" segment, Hudson has you perform Reclining Big Toe Pose by grasping your toe with your "peace sign fingers." She doesn't show you how to modify with a strap, which would make it easier for many people to do. So you may want to have a strap handy if you know how to use it. Overall, this is a good Yoga workout, and the 10-minute segments do stand alone — they don't seem choppy at all, even though they flow easily into one another when you combine them. If you're short on time and long for more Yoga, you'll definitely want this DVD in your collection.
