Find out why The Firm®'s new TransFIRMer™ is the best body sculpting exercise system ever! Anxiety - Anxiety, Depression and ADHD related information. |
There's loads of great stuff out there to enhance your physical and spiritual health. Every two weeks, All Spirit Fitness brings you something we've found useful. Sometimes it's a brand new fitness tool, sometimes it's an everyday item that you can find at the store. Whatever it is, rest assured that if it's on this page, we think it's great! A Food DiaryIf you really want to make changes in your diet, nothing can help you more than writing
down everything you eat for a few days or a few weeks. If you honestly and religiously record every
morsel you put in your mouth (yes, including that handful of M&Ms your friend offered you this afternoon,
and that extra pat of butter you snuck onto your potatoes), it'll reveal not only what you're actually
consuming but also a lot of other clues to your eating habits. You'll find out what times of day and
what kind of events trigger your cravings; you'll see in black and white whether you need to add more
vegetables to your diet; you may be shocked at how much sugar and fat you are eating without even realizing
it. And having all this information laid out in front of you in a food journal is a great motivating
factor - you're more likely to make changes when you can't hide from the truth. Even if you think your
eating habits are okay, you should keep a food diary now and again, just to make sure (you'll almost
always find room for improvement).
To create a food journal, all you need is a spiral notebook, a pen, and the willingness to write down everything you eat, the time you eat it, how hungry you happened to be at the time, and any pertinent event that was going on (did you have a fight with a friend or coworker? Were you at a party? Were you in an energy slump?). Keep track of what you're eating for a week at the minimum; if you really want to make major changes, do it for longer. If you want to get a little fancy, you can buy a ready-made food journal. Loads of them have been published. Here are a few of the best ones: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal
