Usually when we feature an item in our Great Stuff section, we don't favor one brand
over the next. That is, unless the brand stands head and shoulders above the others. This is the case
with Eggology. We already know that egg whites are a great source of protein - they're versatile, fat
and cholesterol free, low in calories, and the protein is immediately absorbed into your system (other
forms of animal protein must be broken down first for your body to extract the protein). Most markets
carry egg whites - some brands are powdered or frozen, and some have extra color added. Nearly all of
them contain preservatives to give them a longer shelf life. They taste okay, but there's nothing
about them that's particularly exciting. That's why Eggology egg whites are a revelation.
Eggology egg whites just don't taste like other packaged egg whites - they have a distinctive, slightly sweet and very fresh flavor, like an egg white that's fresh off the farm. That's because they are fresh off the farm. In addition, they're produced without additives, preservatives or coloring. They're pasteurized, tested for salmonella and USDA approved - in fact, Eggology has a USDA inspector on the premises full time. Because they are bacteria free, Eggology's egg whites can stay fresh in the refrigerator up to four months. And they're kosher. These are the highest quality egg whites you can possibly get, and there really is a difference. There's even a difference in the company's attitude - Eggology only obtains eggs from ranches that support animal rights and environmentally green practices - no hormones, GMOs or antibiotics. Having a social conscience means healthier birds and tastier egg whites. The one downside to Eggology? The quality comes at a price. The original version is a little more costly than other egg white products. If you want to get the certified organic version, the price is quite a bit more. But it's definitely worth it. If you have never been a big fan of egg whites, Eggology may change your mind. They're even delicious scrambled up plain - and that's the ultimate test.
