Billy Blanks' Tae Bo workouts became famous worldwide a few years back, and not just
because his infomercials were seemingly omnipresent. Tae Bo — a blend of martial arts, dance
steps and hard cardio — worked. Recently Blanks returned with an all-new workout
series called Billy's BootCamp. This fitness system combines elements of Tae Bo, basic training and
toning with exercise bands made especially for this program. The package includes 4 workout DVDs, from
Basic Training BootCamp to Ultimate BootCamp (the in-between workouts are a tough
abdominal routine and a half-hour BootCamp session shot out of doors). There's also a "7-day success
plan" to help you kick start a healthy eating program, a suggested workout schedule... and, of course,
those bands.
The bands are the extra-added power that drives these workouts. If you have tried exercise bands in the past and were less than impressed, keep in mind that Blanks' approach to bands is something altogether different. The "Billy Bands" are tubing with handles on one end and a loop to fit around your shoes on the other end. Blanks uses them to add extra resistance to his cardio routines, and for some toning exercises. You may be surprised at how tough it gets to complete all the reps with the added resistance of the bands — all the better to get you into shape. Luckily, Blanks keeps the workouts moving, fun and inspiring, so you're actually eager to keep going. Keep in mind that Billy's BootCamp is not for people who have never exercised before. Even intermediate exercisers will be sore after the first few workouts. But sore as you may be, you will also feel exhilarated and you'll be surprised at how quickly your endurance and strength levels increase.
