Yoga Made Easy
by Howard Kent
2001
Does it really take a year to develop a Yoga practice? The answer to that is that your Yoga practice develops and changes over the course of your lifetime. If you go slowly and lay a solid foundation, your practice will have fullness and bring you lots of stress release, flexibility (both physically and mentally) and a profound feeling of wellbeing. Yoga Made Easy is laid out with exactly that goal in mind. You will be practicing Yoga from day one, learning basic poses, understanding how to use the breath and getting to know what true relaxation feels like. With each month, the practice becomes more elaborate - there are additional poses and various types of meditation. You also learn Pranayama, or breathing exercises, and how Yoga pertains to the mind and emotions. Each month has its own aims - quite often they're not physical goals. Month 8, for example, focuses on all aspects of control, while Month 11 invites you to explore synchronization. Accompanying the text are many crisp photographs and illustrations that show how the poses are performed. At just a bit more than 150 pages, Yoga Made Easy is succinct and to the point. It's a great introduction for any age or level of beginner, with a down-to-earth approach - even when discussing the more mental aspects of Yoga - that will please the most practical person. Those who want to start a Yoga practice but who don't know where to start will find a great beginning here. Other books you might enjoy:
