Stronger Legs and Lower Body
by Keli Roberts and Linda Shelton
2002
What makes Stronger Legs and Lower Body more than just a list of exercises is its organization. The 124 exercises are divided into 4 chapters, from basic to "power conditioning." Within each grouping are a variety of exercises - some require machines, some only body resistance, some use balance tools, and some use dumbbells or resistance bands. In other words, whether or not you belong to a gym, you'll find effective exercises. But the real meat of the book is contained in its final section, which contains a wide selection of programs that combine these exercises to produce results. Whether you're looking to burn fat, train for your favorite sport, or if you just need to begin from square one and learn the basics, you're covered. The work of picking out the exercises is done for you - you just supply the muscle power. You can also mix and match programs and customize them to suit your own needs. This book makes designing a lower body exercise program a no-brainer. The only caveat regarding this book is that there is no dietary advice. Since this is really beyond the scope of a book like this, that's actually a good thing. But it never hurts to remind people that while you can build muscle all you want, if you don't modify your eating habits, you may not lose enough fat to make your results visible.
