Thankfully, Smith addresses a lot of issues that concern women when it comes to weights - she doesn't pooh-pooh the worry that weights will bulk up muscles too much (she confesses that it can be a problem for some women, but also explains how to avoid it). And she not only gives you the pros and cons of having a gym membership versus working out at home, she also tells you how to set up a home gym inexpensively. Smith shows you basics exercises for all body parts, with free weight and machine options. The book also includes a 12-week training log to get you off to a good start, and a very simple and effective eating plan. What makes this book special, however, is Smith herself. She is a truly supportive, motivating force and her encouragement makes you really want to pick up some dumbbells. It's almost like having this really incredible friend helping you along.
