A lot of self-help books contain visualization techniques, and The Attractor Factor is no exception. The difference here is that this approach goes beyond basic visualization because the truth is that just imagining what you want won't work. You need to take other steps too, and that's what this book addresses. You need to be clear on what you want and — even more importantly — what you don't want. You need to get in touch with your limiting beliefs so you can get rid of them. You don't just visualize, you really go deeply into the emotions you'll feel in achieving your goal (it's the emotional impact that makes it real). And, most important of all, you don't just sit back and wait for a miracle to happen — you keep your eye out for opportunity and act. This is not a passive technique. There's a chapter near the beginning that's comprised of testimonials, and that's the marketer in Vitale out to convince you that this method works. But in spite of that, the book is devoid of hype because that's not Vitale's style. Vitale is truly a gentle soul, and it comes through in his words. Perhaps that's why he's so good at what he does — you sense his humanity, and he's not afraid to confess his own faults and foibles. But the bottom line is that the method he outlines in his book does work if you follow the steps. Vitale finishes the book with a chapter on a project of his, Intentional Meditation, which is a very non-traditional form of meditation (in fact, since it's meant to be used for manifestation, it's custom built for the Western mind).
